Sacred Coffee

Comet Coffee, a third-wave coffee shop in St. Louis, commissioned me to do a series of small paintings using espresso as the painting medium. I made 10 abstract geometric paintings that take their inspiration from sacred geometries, that is geometries that have historically been used by artists, designers and builders in the making of places of worship (churches, mosques, etc.) and religious imagery. Drawing the connection between coffee and spirituality, I aim to playfully mirror the way that coffee, in third-wave shops, has evolved into a source of passion and inspiration for the baristas who dedicate themselves to brewing that perfect cup.

A selection of the paintings is shown below. Prints of these paintings can also be found in my etsy shop, here.
